But before Logan shuffles off to play shuffleboard, it looks like he’s going to battle an evil cyborg or two with his beard bro Professor X (Patrick Stewart). Jackman and Stewart showed off their bushy white facial hair recently, and their shared grooming habits were captured for posterity by Just Jared, which just shared a dozen set photos. If you don’t want to be spoiled on the fashion of Wolverine 3, scroll no further. Otherwise, get the Grizzly Adams jokes ready.
Charles Xavier’s grimace in this first photo is presumably the result of Jackman’s beard rubbing too hard against the top of his no-doubt buffed scalp.
Here Jackman/Logan appears to be in the middle of some quiet reflection—that, or he’s just urging his beard to grow even fuller so he can pretend it’s another mutant power.
Just Jared posits that this young girl, who appears in other set photos with Jackman, is a new character in the franchise. She could be a young Laura Kinney, a.k.a X-23, a Wolverine clone who later assumes the bushy mantle.
There are more photos on the site, but they’re just variations on these themes. And in other Wolverine 3 news, we might be soon calling the movie something else entirely, as fan site X-Men Films reports that director James Mangold has registered the titles Wolverine: Weapon X and Weapon X. Whatever it’s called, it’s coming March 3, 2017.
